I returned to shoot my favority sport on Friday, this time the Under 17 year olds at Wright State University in Fairborn. I actually photographed a couple of the kids on the Mustangs while photographing the Springboro Baseball team this year. Taylor Terrell and Ben Schubert play OF and 3B, respectively for the Mustangs. I also saw sort of a novelty today, when one of the Mustang pitchers delivering the ball submarine style. One of the coach remarks that this style allows him to pitch everyday. Quite remarkable. I also photographed the Mustangs next game at Franklin High School. Here are some choice images from both games and a link to my ProAct Image Zenfolio Catalog site for all images from the game.

Allen Americans (CHL) sign three former Dayton Bombers players
The Allen Americans, a CHL affiliate of the Dallas Stars signed Jarret Lukin, Justin Bowers, and Christian Gaudet formerly of the Dayton Bombers. Here is the official Press Release. Good to see that these guys have found a home and that they are together. Also, in the mix is the guy we know and love from the past several seasons of the Bombers. I am not going to reveal his name, but you can probably guess based on the fight image below. Also, for those of you familiar with the Bombers, take a look at who is the Director of Player Personnel.
Here are Jarret, Justin and Christian when I photographed them in during 2008-2009 season. Also here is a link to the story: Our Sports Central.
OSU’s Jim Tresell speaks at QB Club Father Son Event
On Monday June 8th, The Ohio State University’s Head Football Coach Jim Tressell spoke at the annual QB Club Father Son Event in Springboro. The event was designed to honor past Springboro High School Football players and present current football players with awards for their contributions to the football program. This years’s guest speakers were Jake and Josh Ballard. Jake is a 6′6″ 256 lbs TE for The Ohio State Buckeys, while Josh is a 6′2″ 230 lbs LB for Morehead State Eagles. Both, were recent graduates of the Springboro High School. Here are Jake and Josh holding a cake during the preceremony festivities.
The event was also designed to boost community’s interest in and support for the Springboro Football program. Among various announcements, was the unveiling of a new business program where local business would provide support to the High School weight room. Springboro Bulls U8 Select Baseball Photoshoot
After Springboro Baseball season ended last week, I began having baseball withdrawal and was fortunate enough to get my baseball “fix” today by photographing the Springboro Bulls select baseball team vs. Lebanon Warriors in Lebanon. I was impressed that all the Bulls players had such good grasp of baseball fundamentals. It was also good to see familiar faces on the Bulls as some of the kids played baseball with my son Slade two years earlier. Lastly, I experienced a strange case of deja vu while photographing one of the Bulls players, by the name of Mason Hobbs whom I photographed in October 2008 as part of my Dayton Bluehawks photoshoot. Here is a link to my Bluehawks Mite2 photoshoot. Here is Mason, then and now.
In addition to photographing the team, I stuck around and got some awesome shots of the kids. Below are sample images, while a full collection is available on my ProAct Image Photography Zenfolio Collection.
Taylor Terrell Baseball video
I had the pleasure of photographing the Springboro High School Baseball team this year and their outstanding season. One of the bright young stars of the team was Taylor Terrell, who is a Junior outfielder/catcher. I compiled the following video based on some of the images from the season and my HD camera. All post processing was done in Adobe’s Premier Pro CS4. The goal of this video was to exhibit Taylor’s five tool skils. A five-tool baseball player is one who excels at hitting for average, hitting for power, baserunning skills and speed, throwing ability, and fielding abilities. I can’t wait to see what next year holds.
Springboro Baseball vs Springfield High School
My lucky charm is back as once again Springboro Panthers dominated their competition. That is 6-1 in the games that I attended this season. The game wasn’t close after the first three innings as Panthers pitcher Eric Sillies pitches 6 strong innings for the win. I also had a chance to photograph all of the dressed players. Here are the select images and as always a link to all of the 2009 Baseball season action.
Springboro Baseball vs Centerville Elks at Fifth Third Field
Well it looks like my luck run out. The Panthers lost to the Elks last night by the score of 7 to 6 as the winning run was scored with 2 outs in the bottom of the 7th inning. The game was a see-saw affair with 4 lead changes and both team enjoyed many supportive fans. Incidentally, here is a link to my post about the 2008 game between these teams from 5/3 field. I’ll get some images up later today.

Springboro Baseball vs Lebanon Warriors
My good luck or should I say Springboro Baseball team’s good luck continues as I once again came out yeasterday to photograph the action at Springboro Baseball stadium in front of 5, 162 fans. The Panthers have yet to lose when I come out to support them. This game featured two of the best pitchers in GWOC, Dusty Isaacs from Lebanon and Scott White of Springboro. Unfortunately, Dusty didn’t stay the whole game as Springboro won 10-0 in a 5 inning run stopped game. Next up for the Panthers is a date with another rival – Centerville High School at 5/3 Field in Dayton on Thursday at 7:30. The weather is supposed to be ugly, so I’ll keep my fingers crossed.
Springboro Baseball vs Xenia High School
I must be a good luck charm on the Panthers as the Springboro varsity baseball team won again this time against Xenia. The Panthers relied on the sophomore pitcher Josh Lakes, who topped the radar gun at 94 mph, according to Josh Sillies, and pitched like a seasoned veteran by allowing 3 runs over 6 innings of work. Here is Josh pitching to a dominant victory.
The Bench players did something that I’ve not seen them do before, Eric Sillies warned me to be ready to shoot and this is the end result…
…every time Josh struck out a Xenia player, the bench players would stomp their feet twice, clap their hands twice and then cross their legs. Or is clap, stomp and then cross? I don’t know exactly, but it was fun watching them do their thing. Here are some more images from the game and again a link to all of the 2009 season images.

Springboro Baseball vs Fairborn HS
This afternoon, I trekked to Fairborn HS for a baseball game between Springboro Panthers and Fairborn Skyhawks. The game was even for the first three innings, in fact Fairborn was up 3 to 0 in the third inning. Springboro roared back by scoring 10 unanswered runs. It was 10-3 when I left in the 6th inning.
I enjoyed interacting with the players on the bench as the lopsided affair allowed for some brief moments of levity. Check out the pics from the game below and check out this link for more pics from the 2009 Springboro Baseball season.
